Assignment Title: Collaborative Innovation Project

Objective:

To foster creativity through collaborative efforts, encouraging students to generate innovative solutions to real-world problems by utilizing creative thinking techniques and teamwork.

Instructions:

  1. Group Formation:
  • Form groups
  • Ensure a diverse mix of backgrounds and skill sets within each group to enhance creative synergy.
  1. Problem Selection:
  • Choose a real-world problem or challenge that interests your group. This could be related to social issues, environmental concerns, technological advancements, community improvement, or any other field where creative solutions can make an impact.
  • Submit a brief description of your chosen problem.
  1. Research and Brainstorming:
  • Conduct thorough research on the chosen problem to understand its nuances, existing solutions, and potential areas for improvement.
  • Organize a brainstorming session using techniques such as mind mapping, SCAMPER (Substitute, Combine, Adapt, Modify, Put to another use, Eliminate, Rearrange), or the Six Thinking Hats method.
  • Document all ideas generated during the brainstorming session.
  1. Idea Selection and Development:
  • Evaluate the brainstormed ideas using criteria such as feasibility, impact, originality, and alignment with the group’s strengths.
  • Select the most promising idea or a combination of ideas to develop further.
  • Create a detailed plan outlining how the selected idea(s) will be implemented. This should include objectives, steps involved, resources needed, potential challenges, and how they will be addressed.
  1. Prototype and Testing:
  • Develop a prototype or a pilot version of your solution. This could be a physical model, a digital prototype, a detailed proposal, or any other form that best represents your idea.
  • Test your prototype in a relevant environment or with a sample audience. Gather feedback and make necessary adjustments to improve the solution.
  1. Presentation:
  • Prepare a comprehensive presentation that includes:
    • An overview of the chosen problem.
    • Key insights from your research.
    • A summary of the brainstorming process and the ideas generated.
    • A detailed explanation of the selected idea and the development process.
    • Demonstration of the prototype and its testing results.
    • Reflections on the group’s creative process, including challenges faced and lessons learned.
  1. Submission:
  • Submit the following deliverables:
    • A written report (<5 pages) covering all aspects of the project.
    • A visual presentation (slides or video) summarizing the key points of your project.
    • Any additional materials such as prototypes, models, or supplementary documents.
  1. Evaluation Criteria:
  • Originality and creativity of the solution.
  • Depth and thoroughness of research and analysis.
  • Effectiveness of the brainstorming and idea selection process.
  • Quality and functionality of the prototype.
  • Clarity, coherence, and professionalism of the presentation.
